Mulching is much healthier for your lawn. it provides fine grass clippings that decompose quickly, providing important nutrients to the soil.
We mulch and utilize a double-mow technique, essentially mowing the lawn twice to ensure even cutting, providing fine clippings for soil nutrition and minimizing clumping.
All lawns are different, depending on grass and soil types, drainage, amount of sun & shade, etc. Generally, the best height to cut your grass is 3" in the Spring/early Summer, 4" in the heat of Summer/early Fall and 2"-2.5" in late Fall.
Cutting too low in the heat of the summer is stressful for your lawn and requires excessive amounts of water to keep green. Keeping your grass at an optimum height helps to keep weeds at bay and requires less water.
We will cut your grass at whatever height you wish. Let us know your preference.
Fertilizing and weed control are not services that we currently provide. However, we do have relationships with fertilizer/weed control providers in the area that we can recommend. Drop us a line and we can give you options.
We rake and blow leaves from the yard perimeter, flower beds, patios, etc. into the lawn and then utilize the double-mow technique with commercial mowers to finely chop the leaves and distribute mulch to the soil.
Power raking is much more aggressive than dethatching. It can remove almost all material from the base of grass blades at the soil. This can stress the grass and opens up areas for weeds to germinate.
Power raking is appropriate in severe cases for lawns that have not been regularly dethatched and have extremely heavy thatch.
Dethatching is much less aggressive, removes less material and is generally a better option. We use dethatchers for our customer lawns.
